"Your staff took care of me from the minute I walked in the door. My snoring is gone and my life has changed - Thank You Dr. Shah!" --- Joline, Palo Alto

Risks of SnoringSnoring poses major health risks & can be related to sleep apnea

Snoring is a warning sign and may be the first sign of obstructive sleep apnea. Snoring means your airway is partially blocked. The noise is produced by the vibration when air blows through a narrowed airway similar to what is seen in the potentially fatal disease, sleep apnea.  Therefore, it is important to get checked immediately as enough oxygen may not be reaching your vital organs.

Medical conditions related to snoring:

Loud snorers have a...

  • 67% greater likelihood of a stroke
  • 40% greater likelihood of hypertension
  • 34% greater likelihood of a heart attack                                      ... over those who don't snore(1)

Did you know?

Snoring can cause permanent hearing loss!

Snoring can really hurt you or your loved ones. The loudest recorded snoring has ranged between 87.5db and a staggering 111db. Imagine what just 8 hours of this can do to your or your partner's hearing! (See the diagram to the right)

Snoring can ruin relationships!

We have all heard of couples forced to sleep seperately because of snoring. Snoring can deteriorate intimacy in relationships, cause embarrasment, and cause a partner to be banished from the bedroom.

Snoring is one of the leading causes of divorce in the United States.

The National Sleep Foundation estimates:

  • 90 million Americans have a snoring problem
  • 45% of normal adults snore at least occasionally
  • One in four are habitual snorers
  • By the age of 60: 60% of men and 40% of women snore habitually

Both Snoring and Sleep Apnea can be successfully treated with our Oral Appliances and CPAP Alternatives.
