We want you to be fully comfortable and understand everything that your visit with us will entail so we’ll be glad to explain what to expect at your first appointment.

Sleep Testing & Diagnosis

Before you come into our office, we ask that you bring the following information:

  • Your Medical Insurance Card and picture ID
  • A copy of your most recent sleep study
  • A referral or prescription from your primary care or sleep physician (if available)
  • A copy of your dental x-rays (if available)

If you’d like to speed up your treatment on the day of your visit, you can do so by:

  • Calling us with your medical insurance information that’s on your card.
  • Faxing us a copy of your most recent sleep study.
  • Filling out the Office Registration and Medical History forms.

Your Treatment

The consultation and exam are very comfortable and stress-free. We’ll simply review your medical history and then follow it up by performing an examination of your teeth, surrounding tissues, facial muscles, jaw, and airway. We also use a Pharyngometer and Rhinometer, which are unique to our office. These devices will measure real-time air volume via soft sound waves to help us decide if oral appliance therapy is the right treatment for you.

We’ll then review various treatment options for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, including the different models of oral appliances that will be suitable for you. Since we value open communication, we encourage you to ask us any questions that you may have and we’ll be happy to answer them. If you decide that you want to start treatment on the same day, we’ll take impressions of your upper and lower teeth for fabrication of your custom oral appliance in addition to a record of your bite. If you’re being treated for sleep apnea, we’ll verify successful treatment of your apnea with a follow-up sleep study and a discussion with your physicians.

All of your final documentation will be relayed to your referring physician, primary care physician, and insurance.
